Information You Provide

Account information. To create an account you provide your email address, a password, and your name. Your password is handled by our authentication provider and is not stored by AskAI in readable form. We use your email address to send you account emails, such as email-verification and password-reset messages. You can change your name in Profile.

AI Chat. Your messages and AskAI's replies are saved to your account so your conversation history is available when you return. You can rename or delete conversations at any time.

AI Tools. The text you enter into a tool, and the options you choose, are sent to our servers to generate the result. AskAI does not save your tool inputs or results to your account.

PDFs. PDFs you choose stay on your device. When you ask for a summary, key points, or an answer to a question, the extracted text of the relevant pages is sent to our servers to generate the result. AskAI does not store your PDF files or their text on its servers. To apply daily PDF limits, we keep a small record for each document you analyze: a fingerprint (a one-way code calculated from the document's text that cannot be turned back into the text), its page and character counts, and how many questions and requests you've used for it that day.

Calories. The entries you log — food name, serving, quantity, calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat, meal, and date — are saved to your account. For foods added from food search, we also save the food's source reference and brand name.

Food search. When you search for a food, your search text is sent to our servers, which look it up in USDA FoodData Central. Only the search text is sent to USDA — never your name, email, account, or diary.

Information Collected Automatically

Usage counts. We count how many AI requests and PDFs you use each day, and how many food searches you make each hour, to apply plan limits and prevent abuse.

Technical information. Our backend provider processes technical information needed to operate AskAI, such as network requests and sign-in events, including the IP address and app information that accompany them.

AskAI does not include advertising, analytics, or tracking tools, and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

How AskAI Uses Information

We use your information to provide AskAI's features, keep your conversations and diary available across sessions, apply Free and Pro plan limits, secure your account (including email verification and password recovery), and prevent abuse of the service.

We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not use it for advertising.

AI Processing

To generate responses, your chat messages, tool inputs, and PDF text are sent through our servers to OpenRouter, which routes them to AI models provided by OpenAI and Google. These providers process the content to produce a response, and their handling of it is governed by their own terms and policies. We do not send your name, email address, or account identifier with these requests.

Please avoid entering information you don't want processed this way, such as passwords, financial account numbers, or sensitive personal details.

Calories and Nutrition

The Calories diary is a personal tracking tool. It does not provide medical or dietary advice, and nutrition information from food search may be incomplete or inaccurate.

Purchases

AskAI Pro subscriptions purchased in the app are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles your payment information; AskAI does not receive your payment card details. To provide Pro access, AskAI receives your subscription's status and transaction identifiers from Apple and stores them with your account.

Information Stored on Your Device

AskAI stores some information only on your device: your appearance setting and sign-in preferences, your signed-in session (kept in your device's secure storage), and copies of PDFs you import, which the app keeps in its own storage so it can work with them.

Service Providers

We share information only as needed to run AskAI, with these providers:

• Supabase, our backend provider, for authentication, database storage, and server processing.
• OpenRouter, which routes AI requests to models provided by OpenAI and Google to generate chat, tool, and PDF responses.
• Apple, for App Store purchases and subscriptions.
• USDA FoodData Central, which receives food search text only.
• Resend, our transactional email provider, which receives your email address and delivers account emails such as email-verification and password-reset messages.

Search results from USDA may be cached on our servers for a short time. That cache is not linked to your account.

Keeping and Deleting Your Information

We keep your information for as long as your account exists. You can delete individual conversations and diary entries at any time.

You can permanently delete your account in Profile. This deletes your account and the information AskAI stores for it on its servers: your profile, conversations and messages, calorie diary, and usage and PDF-limit records.

AskAI removes the PDF copies it keeps on your device when you sign out or delete your account, and clears any leftover copies the next time the app starts. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription — manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple account settings.

Content already sent to AI model providers is handled according to their policies.

Security

AskAI uses encrypted connections (HTTPS) between the app and its servers, and access controls so that each account can access only its own data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

This Website

This website does not use cookies, analytics, or tracking tools. It is hosted by GitHub Pages, which may process technical information such as your IP address in order to deliver the pages.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as AskAI changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
